bearing witness
A simple film. So simple - is it enough to be of interest? 11 undocumented illegals slowly fry over 24 hrs in a grain hopper. Moving testimony from one family member and his wife over the loss of his kid brother. No testimonys from family members over the other 10 victims. The documentary is testimony to how fragile or anonymous life is in the 3rd world. The very efforts to improve on this state of affairs were why the illegals FOUND themselves in the hopper, and gives this film much pathos.
The last day in the hopper is a vision of hell. No air, no water hot as a 160 degree oven and each watching the agony of the others
The chilling thing not to forget is one anonymous phone call from the smugglers to border patrol gautds would have alerted against the tradgedy happening. This ommission is barely examined except towards the end. Where are the family members of the other 10? Their absence is almost sinister......
